The Klein Independent School District remains concerned and continues to focus on the safety and security of its students and employees. To address these concerns, video cameras have been installed, random parking lot drug searches before and during the school day have been implemented, human-canine teams make regular visits to the campus, and each campus has police officers from the Klein Police Department on campus at various times throughout the school day.

An additional procedure has been implemented for further secure the junior high and high school campus. The secondary campuses have been provided with a hand-held metal detector, which will be used soley on a random basis. Students in randomly selected classrooms and/or buses will be scanned using the handheld metal detectors. Should there be an alert, students will be asked to cooperate in determining the cause of the alert. If requested by the student, this may be done in an area other than the classroom.

The purpose of implementing these security measures is to prevent any student from bringing guns or any illegal weapons into the school building. Zero tolerance of guns and weapons means that KISD will not accept excuses. Therefore, those who possess these objects will have those objects confiscated and could possibly be ticketed or even arrested. Please make sure to have conversations with your students as pocket knives are prohibited in the student code of conduct. Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated.
